( I was also having an empathetic breakdown due to the world being awful, and not knowing how to fix it.)
Things are coming back to life here, and I am probably the only one slightly terrified at the prospect. It means all the responsibilities that got put on hold are going to come rushing back. I have been preparing for it instead of hiding from it for once. I've been planning ahead, making lists, and dreaded phonecalls. I'm done procrastinating. I've also been giving myself more time to write. I made it a priority again, I want to have finished drafts and not just scraps. All of my stories are a bit messy right now, which seems to be an apt reflection of me.
But I'm working on it.
I also did manage to complete the 2-week shred and after that went right into Chloe's 28-day summer shred. Finished that too, and I'm six days into her 15 day one. I like having a schedule I guess. This one is the hardest one so far. I want to be able to do a pull up when I'm finished, might be too lofty of a goal. I don't have a lot of upper body strength. I also lost 12 pounds so far. I eat like a beast, so it goes to show what exercise can do.
I feel stronger, I'm eating better it's been really nice.
While I've been gone, some incredibly exciting things have been happening for a few of my blogger friends.
1. Maddie got an agent!!! I am so beyond excited for her! She's incredibly talented and inspiring. The fact that she somehow wrote and queried a handful of novels all while juggling two kids I'll never understand. Even better is that the book that got her the agent, is her Alice in Wonderland esque one, The Queen's Three, which I got to beta an earlier version of. It's fantastic, and Malec is a perfectly dashing and slightly mental hatter. I can't wait till you guys can read it!
2. Rachel is publishing a Snow White retelling, One Bad Apple. Which I scored an arc of and I'm
currently reading. Her stories are always fantastic! It's coming out July 28th so mark your calendars.
3. Lia published her poetry collection, For the Broken Heart, For the Broken Girl. I got to beta this one too. It's a gorgeous collection. Might make you cry a bit, but the good kind of cry.
I read two books in basically 24 hours. one after the other which I haven't done since I was younger. I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle which is a lush gothic novel. I adored the writing style, and how tightly contained the plot was. I then read The Blue Castle which was a riot. I loved it! So funny and entertaining. Also incredibly well written.
I've been somewhat stuck in the world of Over the Garden Wall, it has stunning art and autumn vibes. And I'm watching it in the middle of summer so take from that what you will.
I've been wanting to paint everything so thus nothing has been painted. But I have a ton of ideas.
I also finally watched Hamilton, it was just as good as expected. Maybe better.
On that note. I promise to post more often. If anyone even wants that. Not that it would stop me if you didn't.

I so, so admire all the workouts you've been doing and just EVERYTHING! Sounds like you're absolutely making the most of this quarantine and that's fantastic. And that's wonderful you're giving yourself time to write too. That makes me happy! ^_^
ReplyDeleteI cannot even put into words how excited I am about Maddie and her Wonderland story being agented. IT'S JUST SO THRILLING!!!
Oooh, Over the Garden Wall! LOVE that one! Now you're making me want to rewatch it. It's been a while! The whole aesthetic of it is truly the best.
Thank you for giving us an update! I do hope your July is a lovely one! <3
Aww thank you so much! I appreciate the support. I'm trying XD
DeleteBeen putting it off for way too long. :D
Same! You will love it. IT REALLY IS!!!
Ooo, you're a fan, isn't it great. You should! I adore the aesthetic.
Thanks for reading it! Oh you too! <3
I feel ya on the empathetic breakdown. It hit me hard this past month and it's been tough to get over.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm glad you're using this quarantine time to your advantage!!! That's so awesome!
So glad to hear from you, girl! I always love reading your posts!
It happens, right. Yeah it's been a lot.
DeleteDefinitely trying to. Thanks! :D
It's nice to be missed. I appreciate it!
Whenever you can post it is fun, I love reading your posts, you have a different take on things and taste which is fun. Do what you can, I'm very much a mood poster.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you! I'm glad you enjoy them.
DeleteMood posting does seem to work the best.
Thanks for the shout-out!
ReplyDeleteI really want to watch Hamilton, but book stuff is consuming my every spare moment, and even not-so-spare ones. Hoping I can watch it when this is all finished :-)
Your welcome!
DeleteIt will be a nice reward when you finish. :D
*relates ridiculously hard to dreading phone calls*
ReplyDeleteOoh, pull-ups! I was just saying earlier today how it's crazy that people can actually do those because it takes so much upper body strength. And I don't have any of that. xD That's so great that you're working toward that!
I also totally get the wanting-finished-stories thing, too. I have such a problem with starting stories and not finishing them, and then they just sit there for years half-finished and it drives me CRAZY. I've been making an effort in the last year to actually finish the first drafts I start, and that's a really big step for me.
Keep up the great work! I look forward to more posts! :)

It's awful, right!
DeleteYes, I really want that skill. You know in case I was ever trying to avoid falling to my death or something. Thanks!
It's a struggle. I do that all the time too. Good for you! It's hard to do, but so worth it.
Thanks! :D
I'm so ridiculously happy and proud of you for soldiering on and getting prepared. I agree, it's a daunting prospect, and phone calls suck moose juice.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited you're writing! I want to read all the things.

DeleteYou'll be the first to get anything worth reading ;)
Aw thanks, they're so hard. Painful but worth it.
Of course! I've been freaking out about it to anyone who will listen. So proud!
I appreciate it.
So happy your are back and doing well. Sometimes we just need a break, from blogging, life and the world (the pandemic hasn't been easy). A time to refresh and gather your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you have stuck to a schedule when it comes to exercise, it does help with the mental health aspect of life.
I haven't watched Hamilton but it sounds like a great play! Can't wait to read your future posts!
