Fall Musings

There is something so comforting about hot tea and warm socks. Small comforts always tend to make me the happiest. Like reading a book and craving something in it like bacon and oatmeal and then realizing you can simply make it.

tasted amazing

That's kinda what I've been doing lately just simple things. Reading, baking, painting, a dash of writing, and studying Irish folklore. I'm trying to savor the downtime, it never stays long.

I'm currently reading no less than five books.

Small Spaces by Katherine Arden ( got it because someone said if you were a 90's kid who liked goosebumps this was for you. Eerie and fantastic so far)

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte ( So gothic, so dramatic. everyone is horrible and I'm loving it)

From the Dust Returned by Ray Bradbury ( strange, dusty, and full of classic Bradbury descriptions)

Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier (fall aesthetics and I'm basically reading it because it has both faeries and vampires)

The Girl Who Soared Over Fairyland and Cut the Moon in Two by Catherynne M. Valente (I adore it just like the previous two)

All of them are perfect for fall.

I've been putting all my creative energy into this guy. It's crazy but I can spend hours just blending and mixing colors. It's when I'm happiest. I've been calling the color palette I've made for him the bruise palette. (For ironic and obvious reasons)

We went to a pumpkin patch and picked out some nice pumpkins to carve. I loved the whole thing, there were apple cider doughnuts, fall-themed drinks, and a million pumpkins. Side note, be careful when choosing a pumpkin because I picked up one with an enormous spider on it and still haven't recovered.

Made pumpkin snickerdoodles, pumpkin bread, and apple cider. If you want your house to smell amazing make cider. 10/10

Had a nice Thanksgiving, well two actually. One was my family's which we had a day late, and the other one was a slapdash one with Elizabeth and it was probably my favorite. We whipped up a quick dinner with turkey lunch meat, mashed potatoes, stovetop stuffing, creamed corn, and spiced peaches.
We watched Penelope and she showed me this gorgeous trail near her house. (A perfect fall day)

I haven't been writing much but I have been reading lots of Irish folklore and taking notes, trying to craft dialogue with a believable accent. Researching schools and the area. I really want this one to be good and well developed.

I've also finally introduced my sister to Buffy. She's loving it and Spike.

He's definitely one of my favorite vamps (It's a toss-up between him and Damon at this point)
Well, that's more or less what I've been up to.

Hope all of you are having a fantastic October.

  5. It looks like you've been having a great October. Pumpkin patches are so fun. And spiders are definitely not.
I don't think I've read any of those books, but they look good. Lol, the feeling of reading five books at once.
Buffy! I've only just started it, and I already love it so much.
P.S. Thanks so much for your comment on my blog. I.....may or may not have almost thrown my phone across the room in excitement.

  6. I feel you about spiders. XD The other day I had one crawl on my arm while I was driving and my dad got it off, but I'm still not recovered, either. XD

Reading about all of the food you made is making me so hungry!!

    1. Right! Fall foods are my favourite king. XD
Oh same! This is the first year I’ve ever gotten past it. If you read it like a comedy it’s entertaining.
