She really is amazing, you'd be hard pressed to find a kinder and more genuine person than Christine. She's a brilliant writer to boot, I've beta read for her, and she's never ceased to amaze me with the magic of her words. Make sure to follow her, she does lots of writing and book related posts that you need in your life.
Onto the questions! I'm going to use Fool's Bet, because I'm supposed to be working on it. I'm not though, I've been camping and binge watching Stranger Things.
1. What first sparked the idea for this novel?
It's a sequel so I guess you could say the first book. To be honest it was Cynfael, bloody Cynfael!
He wouldn't leave me alone so I decided to tell his story.
2. Share a blurb!
3. Where does the story take place? What are some of your favorite aspects about the setting?
A fantastical version of the 1920's, most of the book takes place in a isolated estate in the mountains. The clothes, the style, it was very Gatsby inspired.
4. Tell us about your protagonist.
Technically there are three protagonist.
Cynfael- He has been controlled and used his whole life. He is used to serving the powerful beings around him. He wants retribution for their sins.
Snow- Was switched with a changeling at birth, for the use of her heart when she came of age. After being saved by Chayse and Cynfael, she finds herself caught up in their treacherous world.
5. Who (or what) is the antagonist?
I could say Cynfael's Father, but the antagonist is actually greed or corruption.
6. What excites you the most about this novel?
The politics and overall game that is being played. I am trying to write the fae story that I always want to read. One that has the seelie and unseelie courts, powerful beings, and morality issues, but without the smut that tends to pepper most fantasy stories.
7. Is this going to be a series? Standalone? Something else?
8. Are you plotting? Pantsing? Plansting?
9. Name a few things that makes this story unique.
10. Share a fun “extra” of the story (a song or full playlist, some aesthetics, a collage, a Pinterest board, a map you’ve made, a special theme you’re going to incorporate, ANYTHING you want to share!).
This song is the theme for the whole book.
I might try this!
ReplyDeleteYou should!
DeleteOh my goodness, ma boi! I just love this guy. I cannot wait to get to read this thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's ya boi! XD That made my day, thanks!
DeleteYou did the linkup!!! :D And GIRL. Your words about me! I'm just melting in a puddle of warm, happy, fuzzy feels. You are the bestest friend, Skye, and I'm so blessed to know your kind soul. <333
ReplyDeleteCYNFAAAAEL. The boy. I just can't with him. <3 Or your story ideas. I just LOVE the whole concept of a fantasy 1920s-style setting. I love the 20s, and then add fantasy elements to it and just YESSS. But also CYNFAEL.
"One that has the seelie and unseelie courts, powerful beings, and morality issues, but without the smut that tends to pepper most fantasy stories." <--There is not a big enough YES to properly describe my feelings about this. That's the types of stories I want to read as well! Your stories are my faaave. They're everything I want in a book. I also love that you're focusing on tough issues in the story because you're right, that's very rare to see in something like fantasy. I think it's fantastic! GAH. I just love everything about this!
Thank you so much for joining in the linkup! :D
I did!! I was so excited that you made one! I'm glad they gave you feels! *HUGS*
DeleteThat is excatly how I feel about you!!! <3
He is just such an fascinating and frustrating character to write. Thank you! I'm obsessed with the 20's, such a cool time period. XD Love that he gets a second mention.
I'm so happy you share my opinion on that. I just want well written, clean fantasy reads. I know I can do clean, maybe not the well written part :D Thank you, Eeep! That means the world to me. It's been a bit daunting, writing these themes out. I wish more fantasy writers were doing it. :D Thank you so much!
It was a pleasure, thanks for creating it! <333
AHHH YOUR BOOK SOUNDS SO AMAZING!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEEEP!!! Thanks Gray!
DeleteOOOH this looks REALLY cool. I can't wait to hear more about it!

ReplyDeleteThanks Kara! Hopefully, I can manage to write it. <3
Delete"It's a sequel so I guess you could say the first book" is the sassiest opening paragraph I've ever read lmao. I love this whole post though - WHEN can I read this glorious new novel???
ReplyDeleteHave a great week :)
Amy x Wandering Everywhere

ReplyDeleteReally! So glad you liked it, I really enjoyed Raven's Heir!
Delete:D
So as usual, I'm super late. But that does not douse my excitement and affection for this book and these characters! I read the influencer copy and ADKHFAGKJJADGKJJ! What!? IT'S EVEN BETTER! AND I WANT TO READ MORE ABOUT THEM ASAP!
ReplyDelete*ahem*
I cannot contain my excitement for this prequel. I thought it was just going to feature Cyn [cheeky devil] and didn't realize Chayse and Snow are going to be in it as well. Now I'm more excited. :) I also can't wait to learn more about the fae world.
Fashionably late though. I'm so glad that you like them. :D I was so worried about the final version. I'm so glad!!!
DeleteIt's actually a sequel, but it doesn't really matter. They are, it's definitely his story still. It should be fun.
Oh, I always love hearing more about this story!! It just sounds more incredible every time you post something new.
ReplyDeleteI love it when fantasy stories dive into the politics and the thinking side of things instead of just the smut. It makes it a billion times more interesting and easier to read through. :p
