The Nanowrimo Thing

I've decided to do Nano... It's probably not going to go well. I'm not saying that because I don't believe in myself, it's more about the downward spiral I find my life turning into. That sounds way more depressing than I meant it to. Blame it on me listening to Neon Gravestones on repeat.

My main reason for doing it is simply to get back into the habit of writing, the word count isn't that important to me. Because I rather have 10,000 good words than a mess of 50,000

my Nano account is 'Ink Calamities' if any of you are doing it and want to follow each other. I need all the moral support I can get.

I'm in the fall spirit, if the fall spirit means- feeling half dead, drinking buckets of black coffee, and listening to assorted indie music.

I've been doing things this month. I went on a road trip to the coast. It was a blast and I loved the lack of people because it was cold.

Hikes, fairy light photo shoots, late night Slurpee runs.  It's been a fun month. I can feel my creativity returning, which is nice. I'll probably burn out again in November, but I'm trying not to think about that.

We got our Author Arcs, from Rooglewood! It looks gorgeous, can't wait to have a physical copy. I think I'm finally starting to realize that this is happening. It's crazy to think about.

I've been taking photos again. Which is always a good sign. I'm living for the fall aesthetics.

I kinda want to forget that I have responsibilities. I want to curl up and watch some cheesy Halloween movies, stuff like Monster House, Paranorman, or maybe some X-files. Instead I'm probably going to start prepping for Nano and do something productive.

How is your month going?

  1. YOU'RE. DOING. NANOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! *shrieks in excitement for a thousand years* THIS MAKES ME SO VERY HAPPY. I got so excited that I dashed to the NaNo site to friend you before I even finished this post, only to see you had beat me to it. :D THIS IS THE BEST.

I think it's great the wordcount isn't important. What matters is that we WRITE. That's why I love NaNo, because it's such great motivation to really get us putting those words down, no matter how many. This just excites me so very, very much!

I'm totally in the fall spirit myself. Fall aesthetics is everythiiing. I'm adoring your fallish pics. <3

Also, the Five Poisoned Apples ARC! :O *SHRIEKS* It's getting so close to being in print. Oh my goodness, so much excitement!

I do hope NaNo Prep goes well for you! I'm buried in that myself. And when NaNo comes, feel free to come to me any time for rants or word sprints or just in general moral support. We can complain about the craziness of NaNo together. ;D

    1. I am!!!!!!!! This is the best reaction :D
You were the one friend who I knew for sure was doing it too. *squeals* It is!!!

That's what I thought, I haven't been writing anything so at this point anything is better than nothing.
      I'm so glad!!!

Yay! I love fall for that. They are! Thanks! <3

I freaked out when I got it, still freaking out. I know it's terrifying!

Me too, I'm not a good planner so we'll see what happens. Sure thing! I've never done a word sprint so that sounds interesting. Always in the need of that XD

      Yes, I complain a lot. ;)

  2. I totally feel you. I have not written anything since... a long time. I am being a complete pantser, which is not the best idea because I need to plot to function. Oh well, it will be an experience. I'm so excited that you are doing NaNo! And the release of Five Poisoned Apples is so close!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cue intense screaming* It is going to be so good!!!!

    1. It's hard to get back to it. Same, it's not the most efficient way to do it.
It will be. Are you doing it? Yessss! I'm so excited, but also scared that no one will like my story.

  3. AHHHHH! You're doing NaNo!!!! Yay! I totally went and added you.

And your goal is totally awesome. I mean, that's really what NaNo is all about and everyone who works there will say the same. It's not about hitting 50k in a month. It's about dedicating yourself to your story, in whatever form that takes. So go rock this month!! You've got this!!

  6. That's awesome that you're doing NaNo! I tried to find you to buddy up but you didn't show up when I searched :/
Regardless, I totally get the quality vs. quantity argument with NaNoWriMo, and it's something I've debated in the past. I've done it the past couple years, simply because it gets me to work through my ideas way faster than usual.
And even if you don't make 50,000, at least you'll be adding some words this November! In the end, it is just a challenge and it's not the end of the world if you don't make the goal. The point isn't winning so much as it is getting people to actually write, if that makes sense.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, and that the downward spiral doesn't end up as bad as it seems! I've been listening to Neon Gravestones on repeat too. :P
I will stop rambling - my nano handle is vrs_the_writer, if I can ever get the invite to work properly.

    1. That's weird, I wonder why mine doesn't show up.
I don't really do second drafts, which I probably should start doing. Because writing a book takes me forever. That's what I was hoping. I'll have to remember that. It does, and that's all I really want to come of it. I've been blocked for months.
You too! Hopefully, it's been getting a bit better. Really, it's my favorite off the new album.
Thanks for commenting, I enjoy rambles :D

  8. Good luck with NaNoWriMo! <3

I'm participating for the first time this year. Not really sure how that's going to go for me--but I have a feeling that I probably won't make it 50,000 words on my first go. :P

  9. Hi found your blog on Hamlette's. It's beautiful and I love your photos. I have no idea what NaNo is about, but it looks like you've published a book and since I'm trying to publish I will follow your efforts with interest.

I have also have a blog of book reviews: https:sharonhenning.blogspot.com if you'd like to visit.

    1. Hi! Nice, I really love her blog. Thank you! It's National Write a Novel in a Month, it's a crazy thing that writers challenge themselves to do. You should look into it. I'm flattered, the whole publishing thing is still really new to me.

I'll be sure to check it out.

That is the most apt description of the fall mood I've ever seen. Love it.
