An Unfortunate Update

I've somehow managed to survive almost a week of Nano and kept up with the daily word count to boot. I've written just past 10K and I'm here to tell you it's an odd feeling. I'm proud to have written that much don't get me wrong, but it's awful. So there is a bunch of mixed feelings with it. As a perfectionist, it kills me not to edit it.

I've left it alone so far, but it's a hard impulse to fight.

As soon as November hit so did my Christmas spirit, bring out all things peppermint! My mom took my sister and I to see The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. It was appropriately Christmas themed.
It was a visually stunning and aesthetic movie! I wanted to paint everything! The actors were good and they flipped some troupes, but the story was lacking and unsurprising. Still enjoyed it, but I think it could have been a bit darker.

My mom came through with Nano supplies, she got me a positively giant box of red rose tea and peppermint lindor chocolates. I'm one of those dumb lactose intolerant people who is constantly testing my allergies. You know just in case.

My Dad has been making sure I am well caffeinated and knows without me telling him to get a large black coffee with a shot of espresso in it.

They've been both supportive and sarcastic about Nano. My mom keeps remarking that I spend too much time in my room.

My Dad keeps quoting House at me. They are so alike it scares me.

At least they haven't kicked me out yet. I think my sister is sick of me. I spent one morning researching Count Olaf. Then I ranted for a goof hour about how in light of certain things. He's not a complete villain. This was before coffee so um...

I also have been drawing a picture of Count Olaf every night of Nano thus far, he's a lot of fun to draw. He has enough disguises to last all of Nano.

I would post some snippets here if there was anything good enough to share. There isn't!

So far my tips for Nano are.

1. Get your word count done as early as possible (gives you more time to feel like a human)

2. Keep your desk, room,  or whatever you are writing in clean

3. Eat and stay hydrated (The first three days I was living on pop and Halloween candy it showed.)

4. Exercise (This one helps more then you think it will)

5. Leave the house (basically just take lots of breaks.)

6. Keep yourself clean and presentable

I know these all seem like fairly obvious things, but they are helping me immensely so I thought I would share.

How has your week been?

  1. I have been doing terribly. Well, having access to my computer more often would help. But it is so terrific that you have kept it up!!! I can't wait to read snippets and I am positive that it is awesome!!

  2. You're doing so, SO awesome getting in all those words!!! I know the urge to edit is STRONG. But you can edit and clean it up to your heart's desire once that draft is done. ^_^ You've got this, I believe in you!

Your parents sound fabulous. XD I love how they're being supportive, but with a touch of sarcasm. I mean, that's the perfect balance in life, right? *grins*

Your list is so spot on, and things I need to work on! Especially exercising, I've been slacking... :-/ Gotta get back to it! Thanks for the reminder!

And, SKYE. We've survived the first week!!! :D
I do hope week two treats you awesomely! <3

  3. You're doing great with Nano! Better than me! *hides from word count*
I've been loving all of your count olaf's and it's making me want to watch the series.
    Well done, parents XD
I kinda wanna watch the nutcracker, but yet I'm so bitterly sick of pretty stories with no depth or development involved, so we shall see.
This is an excellent list, and one I should really pay more attention to. Maybe stick it on my fridge....

    1. Thanks! To be fair, you have a lot of stuff on your plate.
Really! :D You should it's amazing!
      XD Yes, well done.
If it's a good story your looking for this one doesn't have it, I'm hoping the new Robin Hood will be better.
Thanks! I need to follow my own advice more. XD

  4. Love this! And yeah, that's true about getting out of the house and getting exercise. I have to or else I'll go crazy (kinda am already because I hurt my foot a month ago, have been house bound, and I am ready to fight someone. I'll probably lose. That's beside the point. Bring it.). Breaks are good. They keep the fog away.

    Also, love the House gif.

Also, every story can be darker. *mischievous Loki grin*
