All the Things

I've been feeling super nostalgic lately. Especially after rewatching 'Vincent & The Doctor' which is one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes. For a variety of reasons, good writing, art, coloring, and pretty much everything. It just makes me want to paint.

It's just stunning and incredibly inspiring. It also has some of my favorite quotes.

This part always makes me emotional. I also really needed to hear this, probably everyone does. I've been going through a lot of growing and changing this year. And growing can hurt a bit, but that's okay. It's just part of the process.

Anyway, I've had one of those weeks that started out awful but turned into a really amazing one. Life can surprise you like that. Mine is full of plot twists, which keeps things interesting.

Writing Things

For example, recently, I've been beta reading a ton and just reading in general instead of writing. My own writing just keeps getting put on pause. I did manage to write two pieces of flash fiction, that both had neat things come out of them.

One was for a flash fiction contest that Melissa Gravitas hosted and it tied for third, which was exciting! You should check out Melissa's blog. She's an amazing writer and incredibly sweet, and she always shares her tips and tricks. You can read my entry here. (If you want) The other entries are all stunning if you want to give them a read too.

The other was written in a bit of a late night haze and was for Havok's 1950's season. It got accepted!!! Which was an awesome surprise. I've signed the contract and did the edits on it.
Can't wait for you guys to read it! Also shoutout to Christine for always editing and getting excited about the random things I send her, and being just an amazing human in general.

Art Things

I've also haven't been drawing as much, I rewatched Labyrinth and got momentarily inspired to paint a picture but I've been lagging on it.

I had been watching this show and the characters were really resonating with me. (It's not a good show per se, in fact, it's pretty dark and has a content list a mile long) *cough* but as a depressed bean, it was really appealing and almost exactly the thing I needed.

So I decided to draw my favorite. Who is, of course, another pretty boi disaster gay type. That I always seem to fall for. It's a problem.

Basically, a goner from the get-go.

Not my best work, I know. And if I had known he would actually see it, I would have done a lot better. *cries*

I was staying with a friend when this happened. I almost fell off the couch. After I checked a billion times to make sure it was actually him. I started screaming. Quietly because people were sleeping. There was a bit of mild profanity too. So thank you Elizabeth! For letting me lose my mind over this with absolutely no judgment and even some encouragement.

I know this probably seems like no big deal to a lot of people. This was huge for me, I really resonated with aspects of this character. Especially the broken parts, I don't know how to explain it.
Just having the actor who portrays him, see it and acknowledge it was amazing. I'll probably never get over it.

Life Things

Other than that. I've been fairly unproductive this month, a lot of tv show bingeing, eating, and listening to old albums. I went on a couple road trips with my dad. Which were full of me sing screaming to all my emo bands and my Dad tolerating it, so he could play his music.

My sister and I have spent a lot of time together, we're binge-watching Gilmore Girls and X files right now. I'm on a bit of a '90's kick, the nostalgia. I know Gilmore Girl's takes place in the 2000s bit everyone knows the '90s didn't really end until like 2008 or something.
We both want to stock up on scrunchies, sheer tights, and chokers. The classics. I love that all of those things are trendy.

I've been bouncing back and forth between being social and a hermit. Balance has never really been my thing though. My life is a teeter-totter.

I think I'm starting to get a grip on it but I'm scared to jinx it. I'm also woefully unprepared for Realm Makers, but I'm hoping I can get myself together. God willing.

Sorry for another rambling post. They are my specialty.

  2. I love, loved your flash fiction piece! Congrats on getting third! And CONGRATS ON THE HAVOK STORY!! I hope I get to read it when it's released.

That's so awesome that the actor saw and liked your art! That's super encouraging and amazing. And I love anything you post. XD

Maybe you weren't very productive, but sometimes you're being productive when you're not actually productive, you know? You have to rest. Especially if your health and/or mental health needs to catch up, you know? And reading lots and watching shows are great rest. XD I want to read so much more but I've been slow at it as usual. But yes, YAAAAASSS, the 90s is awesome. I really, really want to watch the X-Files since I recently bought the first season, but I also kinda want to wait so I can watch it with one of my friends and make them obsessed with it too. One of my friends and I were talking about how we like the "older" movies over some of the newer ones, even if the special effects and stuff weren't as good. The stories were usually deeper, sometimes grittier, but they weren't scared to make you think. Anyhow, I've been watching Twin Peaks recently, and I love the whole vibe of it. The characters are my favorite part. They're all so quirky and strange. XD Have you seen it?

I am so not ready for Realm Makers either. Everything's booked, but I'm not mentally prepared for this. XD I got the email to schedule mentor appointments, and I freaked out a little bit? I waited almost a whole day. Then right after I scheduled one, I panicked and canceled. -_- Soooo, yeah. I don't think I'm going to be having any mentor appointments. I don't know why it made me so nervous, but it did.

    1. Eeep! Thank you so much! Hopefully, it comes out on the 4th which isn't the best time.

I'm still so excited about it! It is! Aww, Thank you. :D

That's true, I guess I was in some ways. It does, and I did feel a lot better after doing that. Me too! I have a giant stack that needs to be read. It is!!! My favorite time. Oh nice! I hope you like it, I've been watching it with my sister, so I'm back at season one. That's a good idea, having friends to watch with is always fun. Me too! I love the cheesy stuff, and the general vibe of it. They are, more real some how, and less politically correct. I've seen a few episodes it's good. Love quirky characters. XD

That makes me feel better, all my stuff is finally booked. Me too. We both are like nope.

And congrats on your flash fiction getting published. That's so exciting!!!

I feel you on not feeling prepared for RM. I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety over it. I had to call it quits early last weekend just so I could get it back under control. But thankfully, we have a month. As long as we try to make a little progress on it each day, we should be totally fine.
