I've been trying to get it together this year, and it was going pretty good. Still is kinda, I'm trying not to let my anxiety have control, I'm giving it all to God. Just doing that has given me a sense of peace.
I've been sick for the last couple of days, so I was pretty much already homebound and to be honest, I rarely leave the house anyway. So the suggested self-isolation doesn't really change much for me. I'm going to spend this time catching up on my stacks of reading, media, and art. I have a lot of tea so I'm all sorted. I'm going to be doing lots of praying too.
I had a fun week with my friend Elizabeth before the craziness.(She just started a blog you should check it out!)
We got take out, copious amounts of junk food and watched two of the Bridget Jones movies and the first four Mission Impossible movies. I've been on a Hugh Grant kick lately and I'm dragging everyone within reach on it with me.
He shares a lot of similarities with Cynfael.
I read and reviewed a bunch of books I got arcs of, some of them were a bit late. I will be posting reviews soon.
I'm making progress on some beta reads that I was supposed to read a while ago. I have a procrastination problem, but I'm more caught up then I've been in the previous years so I'm getting better. Not at writing blog posts though apparently.
Once I finish those up I'm going to focus on writing. I started writing The Fairy and the Artist story, since reading Ninth House and having somewhat mixed feelings about it. I decided to make it a dark academic story so fingers crossed I can make some progress on that.
I'm also still working on Fool's Bet it's changed so much since I started reading a lot of mythology and if anything it's just more complex than I had first envisioned and I want to take my time with it. So I'm trying to let it develop naturally or something. I feel like a lot of people rush books and I really want to not do that.
Here's a snippet I found in my phone notes.
"That is by far the biggest misconception about magic. You can't fix yourself with it. It doesn't fix anything." -Fool's Bet
I've been in one of those moods where I want to revamp my entire life, and I really want to try doing more quality art and less rushed sketches and fanart but it's hard to stop when it's received well or the person you're drawing actually sees it. Not that I'm drawing it for any kind of validation I just draw whatever is catching my attention at the moment really.
Even Kylo has been judging me.

Look at her judgy little face. I love it. |
Still freaking out! He commented and AHHHHH!
Then...
Jesper and Matthais both liked my art and I may die because it's the Crows and because both pieces are awful!
My BuzzFeed unsolved fanart was also favored by the algorithm, why? I don't know.
As if that wasn't enough two of my favorite magicians also blessed my art this month.
I love these two soooo much and they're amazing to fans. One of the show's writers also shared my art and I got to chat with them a bit, which was really cool! Especially due to the fact that this is the last season and we have exactly 3 episodes left.
I want to do a few more pieces for it. I am super attached to it despite its many many flaws. It's mostly because of Elliot, most of the characters are pretty interesting actually. I think just having a show with mental illness, magic, and 25+ aged characters ticked off all the boxes for me.
I was browsing Tumblr and someone said that their taste could be summed up by anything colorful and featuring attractive people and honestly I've never related to something more. This is why Birds of Prey, Ps. I still love you, and Little Women all appeal to me and I adored them.
Birds of Prey is definitely the favorite. I adore this far superior version of Harley Quinn I loved her in Suicide Squad despite the fact that the movie was awful. I also might have shipped her and the Joker when I was younger because I was an edgelord and stupid. All that being said this colorful, chaotic, slightly bitchy version pretty much sums up my vibe right now.
Falling Snow got some love this month. Katie got a friend and her sister to read it, and they loved it. Both her and Christine are so sweet and beyond supportive of my little story. The friends I don't deserve but love to death.
Also, Movie Critic read it, and her sister called Cynfael... Tinfoil which I died at it's too fitting. She also listed Snow and Chayse in her OTP post. Which was so sweet, all the love these two are getting is making me feel guilty for some of the grief they go through in Fool's Bet.
Anyway, this was probably way too long of a post. I want to do some art-related posts next possibly some book reviews. I hope all of you are okay out there, and if anyone needs prayer just let me know.
Ahhhh that's so cool that they liked your arts!!!! And those drawings aren't awful AT ALL. They make me want to draw more real people, tbh.
ReplyDeleteSo excited to see this update! <3
Thank you!!! I think it's because I can see all the faults with them. Oh good, I loved your last piece.
DeleteIt's been awhile hasn't it. <3
It's so awesome that they liked/shared your art!!!!! Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had a positive time recently! I'll admit, anxiety is hard to give to God sometimes, but man, it makes a huge difference. So glad you've been able to experience that!
Also, I will never not say that Kylo is the definition of adorable. I must always point it out.
Thank you so much!!
DeleteYeah, it's been a nice change. It is! It's made such a huge difference.
XD She's such a little poof.
aaaaah the Crows saw your art that's so cool!! (i'm so excited for this show!!!) Kylo is so cute and i want one :)
ReplyDeleteThey did!!! (Me too!!) She keeps things entertaining. XD
DeleteI'm so glad that you've found some peace from anxiety! <3 Your art is always amazing and that's awesome that they liked it!!! Ah, Snow and Chayse. <3 Haha, yep, my sister is hilarious! XD But, I'm worried about them now that I know that they are going to have a lot of grief in Fool's Bet. O_O Your writing is gorgeous, don't rush it! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's been relaxing. <3 Ah, thank you!!! Still so happy that you like them. She is! My sister and I were dying. XD I'll apologize in advance. I have to. Omigosh I appreciate that so much.
DeleteI won't! :)
Your art is amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
DeleteIt's always so good to hear from you! And that makes me really happy to hear things are going well and you're finding peace. <3
ReplyDeleteSOOOOO excited about Fool's Bet! But that is admirable you're taking your time with it. I agree, authors so often rush their stories. I've been seeing it more and more lately and it just takes away from the book so much. Some stories NEED to be written slowly, and that's totally okay. I know Fool's Bet is going to be AH-MAY-ZING, however long it takes. <3 Also, a dark Academia Skye story? Um. YESSSS. The Fairy and the Artist story was that flash fiction you shared in...October wasn't it? Because I LOVED IT AND NEEDS MORE, PRECIOUSSS.
I loooove your art pieces and that is absolutely THRILLING the actors are liking them. AAAAHHHHH!!! SO PROUD OF YOU.
Snow and Chayse are the ultimate OTP and deserve to be in ALL the OTP lists. <3333 (Also, I am DYING over the "Tinfoil" thing. Can you imagine if someone called him that to his face??? XD Man, now I want this to happen...)
Thanks for the update, girl! Hope you and your family stay well. *HUGS*
Aww thanks! Yeah it's a nice change. <3
Delete:D That makes me so happy! Yeah, it's easier to rush it and get it over with in a way. I think we all feel this pressure to write as many books as possible or something. They do. I appreciate that, thank you! :D Yesss, I've been needing one. Yup that's the one. I'm setting it at a college in Ireland! *HUGS* Gahhh! <333
Thank you so much!!! It really is thrilling! *flails and happy dances*
You always say the nicest things. I'm so glad you love them, you've been their biggest supporter since draft 1! (Right! I laughed so hard. He would be so offended and dramatic about it. I kinda want to do it now. XD)
Thanks for all your kind words! Right back at you. *HUGS*
Your art is so good.
ReplyDeleteKylo has the cutest judgy face.
I really need to see Birds of Prey. I think Margot Robbie was the perfect person to play Harley Quinn.
OKAY, THE TINFOIL THING IS HILARIOUS.
Thank you!
DeleteDoesn't she XD
It's really good. I agree!
Right!
I LOVE that snippet.
ReplyDeleteIt's so awesome that your art is getting so much love. I love it all.
And I think my taste is anything black featuring attractive people XD
Thank you so much, it's like the only good thing I wrote last month. XD
DeleteI appreciate that!
Ooo that too! I love black! XD
