At first, the idea of being quarantined with my family was a terrifying thought.
I mean it's still a bit unsettling, but we're actually handling it better than I thought we would. My mom started a garden and is getting chickens. My dad has luckily still had lots of work, so it's basically been somewhat normal, with the exception that we're all somewhat getting along. We've had the odd scrap, but nothing serious which is a blessing in itself.
We're getting through it. (I don't want to jinx it though)
It's kind of funny for so long I wanted life to slow down, and now it finally has, and it took me a month to calm down enough to utilize it. ( I know this whole thing is awful and serious, I'm just trying to look at it positively)
I've been reading, writing, and a slew of other random things.
I've read
The Hazel Wood
The Night Country
Ocean at the End of the Lane
We Were Liars
Blackbird of the Gallows
Enchantee
Some were better than others, but I enjoyed all of them. Actually, this list is pretty much best to worst.I'm now reading Emma, which has been incredibly entertaining.
My sister and I have been binge-watching a lot of tv too. I have this thing where I start shows and never finish them. I used to think I just lacked motivation. Turns out I just hate endings, that and some shows really decline and watching a show you once loved lose its charm is never fun.
The Mentalist (My second run-through, I love it so much)
Psych ( Can't believe it took me so long to finish it! I really didn't want it to end)
Firefly & Serenity (So fun introducing my sister to this series, it deserved more!!!)
Veronica Mars ( I watched this series at 16 and a new season came out last year and it took me this long to watch it. It gutted me, still haven't recovered.)
Parks & Recreation (Will always love this one)
Schitt's Creek (Sooo funny, can't believe it's over.)
The Magician's (This one really lost it in the last season, well it's kinda always been trash. The one character I cared about ended up alone. I'm bitter)
Community (I love this completely off the wall show. I started watching it with my brother, ended up rewatching it with my sister. We're on the last season, I lovvveee it!)
Most of these were spread out over a few months, please don't think all I do it watch tv.
I think X-files is next show I finally need to finish, fingers crossed.
I've been writing I mean it's not good, but I've been doing it! A little bit each day, so much better than losing to a blank screen.
Art has been a bit meh. I still haven't finished the oil painting and have tons of ideas, but no follow-through unsurprisingly. I'm sure I'll get back to it. I baked, I deep cleaned, I did all the things! I still haven't used my instruments but I'll get to them. Maybe...
Things that have been getting me through
1. Music (sooo much Indie music and so many new albums)
2. Henry Cavill and Joey Batey's Instagram accounts- Henry is a domestic housewife who loves horses and Joey is snarky and chaotic. He recently did a Witcher bake-off on Youtube it was ridiculous and made me unbelievably happy.
3. Community's paintball episodes, their the best!
4. Black coffee it just helps
5. Fresh fruit (honestly though)
6. Memes because humor helps
Basically, just anything that can make me smile and ease my anxiety. I hope you guys are all finding things to laugh at too.
Not to intentionally sound psychotic but I FLIPPING LOVE THIS SOOO MUCH!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust yes to everything
Is it bad that I appreciate psychotic. THANK YOU!!!!
DeleteYes to copious amounts of tv. XD
I was pretty stressed and mad a lot of really stupid/ignorant hot takes at the beginning, but now I'm mostly alone at work and not obsessively checking stats (plus just burned out of it)plus unfollowing the panic and anxiety mongers, I'm fine.
ReplyDeleteI was already in a slump before this, and this was supposed to be my year of not literally behaving like I was under stay at home orders, so basically externally not much has changed since I barely went out anyway and when I did it was Walmart. So, with so many encouraging people sharing crafts and projects and fun on Instagram, blogs, and Youtube, I decided to sort of reset my thoughts. Its been inspiring to see what people are doing.
Last night I started journaling this year, I'd not done well with preserving many memories previously, and as my mom pointed out, this time especially, it will be interesting to look back.
Yeah, tv shows turned into more episodes for $$$$$. I'm still not a huge tv person, but now I know that even if I love the show in the beginning, I'm going to have to cut it off at the last two-three seasons when they start running out of good ideas and start throwing in curveballs from lack of imagination, some of which needed to be in for all the seasons or not at all to be good plotlines.
That first gif is hilarious, what is it from?
Oh yeah, I went through a bit of that too. I stopped checking too, it got exhausting. That sounds like a good decision. I'm glad!
DeleteAww, I'm sorry about that. Same here, I had big plans and I was trying to get better at not isolating myself, which seems really ironic now. Walmart was basically my social life too. It definitely helped, I love seeing how creative people are getting rather than focusing on the negative.
I been hoping to do that at some point, I just keep forgetting. It would be a nice thing to have.
It's a problem. It's sad but true the first few seasons are usually the strongest. Excatly.
It's from Schitt's Creek a sitcom about a rich family who loses all their money and moves into a motel. It is M rated and has quite a bit of language. (Just a heads up)
I've been so busy with school that I haven't even had time to worry about it all, LOL
ReplyDeletePlus I live out on a farm so its all basically the same thing as when I'm normally home. (Lol...Maybe I should be concerned by the lack of social life?)
BUT YES! Glad you're spending this time on you time. All these gifs are GOLD!!
XD Well that's fun.
DeleteMy parents want to live on a farm. Nothing much has changed for me too. ( I don't really have one either. XD)
THANKS! It's been a work in progress. I appreciate that!
Yes to coffee helping (obviously)!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I feel you, I hope life continues to treat you well. <3
It's basically our fuel, right!
DeleteThanks, you too! <3
The biggest problem with the quarantine is that I’ve temporarily lost my job. I’ve been promised that I’ll get it back, but I miss going to work and having a set schedule everyday.
ReplyDeleteOh no, I'm so sorry Ivy! That's good. Yeah, not having a schedule is rough.
DeleteI'll be praying for you!
I'm sooo glad to hear you've been taking care of yourself! I've been finding ways to help myself through this crazy time too, like doing work outside. It definitely helps me mentally! Still feeling pretty stir crazy, but just little changes absolutely makes a world of difference.
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks like you've been consuming some fabulous fiction! THE HAZEL WOOD. Looooved that book (minus the language lol). I NEED to get The Night Country.
PSYCH. MY FAAAAVE. I've actually been watching a fair bit of it too. Although I feel like I can say that at any point in my life since the show first aired practically. XD I'm obsessed. I NEVER get tired of it. And my brother's been telling me to watch Community. It looks so fun! I did NOT realize that gif was from that show. :O (Am I the only one who gets excited to find the source of a commonly used gif? XDD) Now I just want to watch it more. Lol.
I'm totally with you on the memes thing. I think memes is helping me survive this craziness. I mean, if we gotta go through the apocalypse, may as well make it meme worthy right??? XD Humor DEFINITELY helps.
Thanks so much for this lovely update. I'm so glad you're doing well! <3
Thank you, it's been so nice! Oh good, yes! The sun helps a lot. They do!
DeleteI was so happy to get out of my reading slump. It's sooo good! (The language was a bit much) You do! I loved it, and I tend to not like sequels!
IT'S ONE OF THE BEST! One of the few things that can make me laugh, even when I think I can't. Same. You should it's definitely an oddball one, but it has a lot of heart and I got ridiculously attached to it. It is! It's from one of my favorite episodes Remedial Chaos Theory, they have all these different timelines, it's hilarious.
(Oh me too! I'm always like that's what is was from! XD) You should!
They have been comforting. Right! Exactly, lets make it enjoyable or at the very least laughable. XD Agreed!
Thanks for reading it. You too! <3
PSYCH! and parks and rec! my family and i have been slowly making our way thru Psych (for the first time!) since last may, and we're on season 7 rn. i don't want it to end, lol. but we're going to finish it before the movie comes out in july. :)
ReplyDeletei'm watching parks & rec for the first time rn (i'm so behind the times, lol), and i'm loving it! the office is still better imo, but i'm loving the characters (especially april).
<3
Their so good, right! Nice, it's the perfect show for this kind of time. I thought there was going to be another movie, I'm excited for it. :D
DeleteIt's so funny. (I usually am too. XD) ooh, I've only seen a couple episodes of the office, but I thought it was great. She's my favorite.
<3
It's great to hear that you are doing great during these unforeseen situation, and have been putting yourself first.
ReplyDeleteI've started watching The Office and I love it! It's the type of show to cheer you up, especially during a pandemic. Also, XFile is my favorite show all time, Mulder is so so good looking.
Hope you stay safe and healthy!

Thank you! It's been a struggle I don't like doing it feels selfish.
DeleteI need to watch that one! I bet!! Sameee, it's so good. Mulder's great! XD
You too!
I'm so happy to hear you're doing better!!! That put a smile of my face! And I'm glad that your family is getting along!
ReplyDeleteUgh, the ending of Psych...a bittersweet one. Have you watched Leverage? That ending still brings me to the brink of tears, even after numerous times of watching it. But I feel ya about shows losing it in the final season. That happens with alarming frequency.
I LOVE BLACK COFFEE AND I'M SO HAPPY TO FIND SOMEONE ELSE WHO LIKES IT TOO!!!!
Thanks Sarah! I'm glad! Yes, that's been a blessing!
DeleteIt is! I've seen a few, it's hilarious. I need to finish that one too. I love endings like that. They do, and it's so sad.
YES! IT'S THE SUPERIOR COFFEE!!!! XD
I've been working out, too! I've never done it before and it's been hard but good. I'm glad to hear that you're doing okay!! These TV shows look fun!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! It can be hard to start, then you kinda fall in love with it. Thank you!! They are!
DeletePSYCH IS THE BEST. And I'm so glad you've been doing well. <333
ReplyDeleteIT IS! Thank you so much! <333
DeleteI'm so glad you've been doing better.
ReplyDeleteI've been missing doing some extracurricular activities, but I don't really go places very much, and I live on a ranch so I can go outside still.
I've actually been on a comic book kick, as of late, in terms of reading, and I feel like I've been able to complete more hobbies.
I'm bad at finishing shows because I don't want it to be over. I'm always sad watching the last episode of something.
Parks and Rec is very uplifting. It's my go-to happy show.
I actually just watched both Firefly and Serenity this past month, and really liked it. It deserved so many more seasons.
One of my favorite shows is the reboot Battlestar Galactica. You should check it out, if you hadn't already (warning: it is quite depressing). I had a huge crush on one of the characters for awhile.
Thank you!
DeleteYeah same here, I don't really either. A ranch! That's awesome!
Oh fun! It's definitely nice to have reading time.
Yes, I never want things to end.
It is! Always makes me laugh.
Nice! It really did!
Haven't seen that one, I should. (the best kinds usually XD)
