August Slipped Away Like My Mind

 Fall is coming!

*Runs around in a blanket cape throwing fake fall leaves*

Seriously though I've been burning a leaf scented candle since mid-August, and ordered a pumpkin cream cold brew the day it dropped. My dad thinks I'm ridiculous maybe I am.

I'm no longer 25, and I'm feeling very unbothered by it. I'm mostly just sad that the lyric "I was twenty-five and afraid to go outside, a millennial the baby boomers liked" no longer applies to me. I'm moving in September and I'm excited about a change of scene and refocusing my life. I'm feeling fairly optimistic. I want to get lost in art, music, and writing again. Whilst also being a responsible adult who doesn't procrastinate everything, you know the dream.

I've changed a lot. I think your twenties are a time for a metamorphosis. I'm fully embracing it, or at least trying to.

I haven't been doing anything much lately besides spending time with my family and consuming too much media.  All my books went ahead of me, so my fall reads will have to wait. I'm trying to use the little bit of time I have left here to clean up my digital clutter, but I haven't done much yet.

I do want to post more during fall and even in the winter months. So I am going to work on that.

I haven't been doing any art which is a tragedy. I hope to mend that soon. Writing has also more or less been put on hold, but I have gotten a lot of plot ideas and unearthed some more Irish lore that I want to use in it. I'm itching to get back to it.

I got Animal Crossing for my birthday so I'm excited to start playing that. It looks so cute, and I love that the seasons change accordingly.

Other than that my life has been in a bit of a lull lately, and I've been trying to enjoy it. These quiet moments never seem to last.

How was your August?

  1. I feel like my August went by in a blur. One think I decided was to not pursue accounting in college in the more. Once I decided that and finished my summer class a huge load lifted.

As to moving, I told Mom that I wanted my own place but didn't want to be alone, I wished we had a family compound with all of us in our own houses on a big lot. Mom jokingly said I should get a tiny home and live in the back yard.

    1. It did didn't it. Oh that's good, making big decisions like that can be such a relief.

I know that feeling. I like being around family too, luckily I'm moving in with my cousin.

  2. I also want to put on a cape and run through the falling leaves! It'd be so much fun! Moving can be stressful (I've done it over half a dozen times) but you got the right mindset so everything will go right. Animal Crossing sounds like a great game!

    Also, happy belated birthday!!!!

  3. I absolutely adore your love of Fall, it's incredibly inspiring really and I don't know why. I just heavily relate I guess.

Also so glad your getting excited about moving! You needed this. And cheers to feeling unbothered and just trying to enjoy things while being an adult at the same time

  5. August and summer in general went really fast for me too. However, I'm glad that summer is coming to an end, mainly because I didn't really get to do anything this summer except finally get my job back. I guess a paycheck is better than nothing.

I totally understand about the mid-twenties dilemma. When I turned 26, I was very depressed because I had had a scheduled life of school and now that I had graduated earlier that spring, I had no job and no idea where my future was. You seem to have it better held together than I did.

    1. It was all such a blur. Well that is a good thing at least. I hope the fall months are better for you.

Dilemma is a perfect word for it. It is quite scary feeling a bit rudderless, but I'm excited about the possibility.
Not sure I do, but thanks.

  8. August was hot and sticky, and I was not sad to see it go. Do you feel more creative in the fall? I always do. Like the cooler weather revives my creativity or something. It's no surprise I almost always start writing new books in the fall.

BTW, I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Play if you want to!
