Christine tagged me for this, and I was ecstatic because I've been dying to do this one. The questions are just too good. I'm going to stay away from all the bigger and more well-known fandoms for this one unless the question calls for it. Because some I know are going to be used by multiple people so I'm trying to avoid that. Also, let you guys see how strange some of my interests are.
What’s the first fandom you remember becoming a part of?
When I was three my mom says I became obsessed with Sailor Moon. Then she watched some episodes with me and decided she didn't like it and cut me off. I didn't take it well the little hellion that I was, but I'm an anime fan now so it feels like foreshadowing.
What’s the newest fandom you’ve come to enjoy?
Such a loaded question.
I am notorious for having multiple obsessions at once. What kind of fandom are we talking about book, music, movie, tv-show, my random fixation of the moment.
I'll pick K-dramas
And I can't just pick one so bear with me. Even if one is labeled a specific genre most tend to not stick to the usual tropes of the genres.
Like just because one is labeled a romance doesn't mean there isn't a ton of action etc. They have gorgeous cinematography, story-lines, and they really build their relationships up. Like most couples don't even kiss until like the 12th episode.
(I'm trying not to carry on too much about them because I'm planning on doing a post about them soon.)
But basically, I'm an intellectual who watches these shows for the amazing plots.
Any that has a found family/ guy who shouldn't really have a kid. Cuz he's like a mercenary or something whatever that is. I eat it up.
They gave me everything with Frank and Amy and then took it away. *cries*
What’s a guilty pleasure fandom of yours?
Any that I watched for aesthetics over anything else or that had a lot of content. Tries to think of the least offensive ones.
The Magicians- I like a lot of the characters and aspects of this one. They were all college-aged and I was so tired of watching teenagers. But even though they tried to have plotlines about mental health, they really never had the impact they were supposed to and at times felt edgy on purpose, and it went nowhere.
But I will forever love Eliot Waugh (The rest can burn)
Deadly Class- Fantastic aesthetics, but everything else is a mess. Cliched characters, plotlines, and way too edge lord for me. The backstories were so over-the-top gory and awful for like no reason except edgy. It's one of those ones that's gorgeous but substanceless and went nowhere. I wasn't surprised it didn't get renewed. Also, the stuff involving dogs, why?!
Also, I think someone was using people as furniture and they lost me.
I watched it for him essentially.
I guess they used to be guilty pleasures but now I'm just mad.
What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve heard of/are a part of?
That's a tough one, all fandoms are pretty weird if you go on their Tumblr tags. I mainly just try to get my gifs and get out. Like I'm always on the fringes of fandoms never really in them. I found a surprising amount of people started listening to Stray Kids because of Hyunjin and his hair. I actually got invested because of Felix and his voice and ended up finding Hyunjin after.
Hyunjin's hair and Felix's freckles. I'm a fan XD
Favorite popular/widely-known fandom?
Hmmm favorite is super hard
Stranger Things
Marvel
Pirates of the Caribbean
Mainstream anime (I'm basic)
old Disney movies
Studio Ghibli
Narnia
Wonderland
You know all the basics. I'm super basic. It's sad
Favorite bookish fandom?
Howl's Moving Castle! I always come back to it, all the time. I will never be over it.
What do you consider your home base, a fandom you can always come back to?
Lord of the Rings. I was raised on it, read it. Had it read to me. Watched the extended editions obsessively. Can still quote it nearly word for word. I feel like it never dies either.
What’s a fandom you know all about…but aren’t actually into it?
I know an awful lot about Supernatural for someone who has seen like three episodes. Like I know all the actor's names, who they married. I know how it ends, and some of the random inside jokes don't ask me why I have no idea.
Which fandom has the best characters?
I hope everyone knows this question is ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. Plus we all know I love the terrible characters, not the best ones.
I'm just picking one of my recent ones to gush about, because how else do I answer this question
I love the characters in Tale of the Nine-Tailed.
There's Lee Yeon
Lee Rang
Yeon's brother who he tries to pretend doesn't exist. Doesn't have the moral code that Yeon has and is constantly getting people to make deals with him and causes a lot of undue chaos also has this girl he saved from the zoo. And accidentally ends up getting this family. That he supposedly didn't want and Loki style decides to save everyone. Despite being the antagonist.
Nam Ji-ah
She lost her parents at a young age in a car crash. Almost got eaten by some foxes was saved by Leon who makes her forget him. She's actually the reincarnation of his first love. She then bumps into him while shooting a show on urban legends. Figures out he isn't a human and tracks him down. Ends up getting mixed up in his crazy world and makes him more or less repeat his history.
It's got great chaotic sibling dynamics, humor, heartbreak, and an adorable love story.
Name your all-time favorite ship.
I can't choose are you crazy.
The 10th Doctor and Rose
Howl and Sophie
Frank and Karen
Not even technically a couple
I have a million
Min Min and Bong Bong
He fell so fast so hard and it's adorable.
What’s a fandom you’re curious about joining?
Shadow and Bone but I guess I'm technically already in that one.

Loved all your answers! Watching things for 'plot' is a huge reason for a lot of the things I watch too XD
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tag!
Also just coming back to add, love all of your GIFs the guys you chose are very pretty and I appreciate it.
DeleteAnd the otp ships! they're so good.
Thanks! Plot is so important. XD
DeleteAnytime.
I realized after lining them up that I might have a type and freaked out a little.
Yes! Love my otps, I probably forgot a lot.
Thanks for tagging me! I agree with you about the Supernatural fandom. I've only seen 3 seasons, but for some reason I'm still drawn to it.
ReplyDeleteAnytime! Right, it's definitely an interesting one. And it's been around for so long.
DeleteYou did the tag yaaaay!!! I absolutely LOVED this! And it's reminding me I really need to try some k-dramas at some point. I know so many people who love them. And clearly the "plots" are very, very good to behold. ;D But really, so many of those shows sound great. One day I gotta give them a try!
ReplyDeleteTough guys adopting "kids" is the BEST trope and makes me weak too. Every. Single. Time.
And ALL THE YES to literally every popular fandom you mentioned. Although I've yet to get into the world of anime (another thing I keep meaning to try!) but I love ALL those others! Nothing wrong with being basic. Those are popular fandoms for a reason! And also HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE. AND OF COURSE LOTR. My greatest loves. <333
Thanks so much for joining in! This was a treat to read! :D
I did, took me longer than I expected! THANKS!! Oh you really do they have such cute relationships and domestic things in them. I think you'd love them. The plots are gorgeous! ;)
DeleteI'm going to do a post soon with some recommendations.
It is! It's honestly the best one.
Right! The best of the best. Oh you should it's also so good and crazy, I comfort watch anime a lot. I think you would like Snow White with the Red Hair. I've only seen the first season but it's so good!
That's true actually. Howl's Moving Castle might be my all time favorite thing. I always come back to LOTR. <33
Thanks for tagging me! Glad you enjoyed it. :D
Found family! And tough guys with kids that they really shouldn't have! I love that, too!
ReplyDeleteHOWL'S MOVING CASTLE. And LOTR. YESSSSSSS.
That Sophie meme, though. Far, far too accurate.
Found families are the best! It makes me so emotional.
DeleteTHEY MAKE ME SO HAPPY!
Right! Would be me.
I watch for "plots" too, lol. I've started a K-drama, still need to finish it, had no idea they were so long. My attention is at squirrel level right now, anything shorter than a youtube video is hard for me to focus on.
ReplyDeleteHowl's Moving Castle is so underrated! Have you read any of that author's Chrestomanci series?
The only reason to watch things. XD Oh which one? I know I was surprised too, but now I'm like 16 hours worth of content is the only kind of content that I want. K-dramas might help with that.
DeleteIt is! It's honestly the best book. I did, I love that series too. Been slowly trying to read through all her books.
Found families is one of my favorite tropes. It shows up a lot in my writing. Ah, yes, watching things for "plots" is lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI like lots of popular fandoms, too, and it has taken my Enneagram 4 self a ridiculously long time to admit that I am extremely basic in some ways. And so many of those fandoms you listed are favorites of mine, too. LOTR, Narnia, Wonderland, Pirates of the Caribbean, Stranger Things (which I've only seen, like, three episodes of so far, and now I just wish I had endless amounts of free time so I could binge watch the entire show).
Jumping on things quickly is something I wish I could do. Usually I'll say that I'm going to read/watch something...and then it takes me months before I actually read/watch it.
This looks like a fun tag. Would you mind if I stole it?
It's just so good! Love that. XD it is!
DeleteThey are popular for a reason I guess. It took me awhile to admit it too.
All so good. There are only eight episodes a season or 10 in some cases. So it's nice to take that one a bit slower.
Sometimes I think I jump too quickly. I procrastinate things I'm really excited for too.
It is! Not at all. Can't wait to read your answers.
Aww, thank you so much for tagging me!!!
ReplyDeleteK-dramas sound the best. You are getting me more into them each time you mention them. I should really check them out.
Can't wait to read your answers!
DeleteThey really are. I keep meaning to do a post just about them. You should!
This is a fun tag! I've watched a couple of K-Dramas (Strong Woman Bong-Soon, W and others) in the past and would love to start watching again, so I'll be checking out Tale of The Nine-Tailed. Thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteLoren | Plaid and Sugar
It is! Oh I love Strong Woman Bong-Soon so cute! W is on my list.
DeleteI think you'll love it. No problem!
I am woefully out of touch with k-dramas, but feel like I would love them. I have Netflix and Hulu...any recommendations on something non-intimidating to start off with on one of those platforms?
ReplyDeleteI only recently got into them myself. They are super cute! Um for Netflix a good one is The King: Eternal Monarch it has like parallel universes and a really adorable romance and it’s pretty funny. It is fantasy though if you want like a simple romance there’s Love Alarm. They actually have quite a bit, I just haven’t gotten a chance to watch many on there yet and I don’t have Hulu so I’m not sure what they have.
DeleteTHE PLOTTTTTTTTTT ah, you cracked me up so much with that xD thank you xD
ReplyDeleteTen and Rose!!!! My all-time favorite OTP!!! They are just the embodiment of all the romantic feels. All the romantic feels. I'm sorry, y'all. They just are. I don't make the rules. ;)
Christine tagged me with this one, too, and I'm really looking forward to filling it out!
XD It's just so important. I'm glad XD
DeleteThey are just adorable in every way! Right, I honestly can't think of a better one. It's true!
Yay! Can't wait to read your answers!
I hadn't thought of it like that before, but characters "adopting" kids is THE BEST AND CUTEST THING EVER!
ReplyDeleteRight! I absolutely love when they do that.
