I guess I should update you guys on everything else. I actually did take a break these last couple months. Well on some things.
I finished my first batch of edits!
That was such an incredible feeling, they were more difficult than I thought they would be. I was not prepared for the emotional and mental effort that was required.
So after that was done, I celebrated by reading Caraval! It was so goood and magical! I'm in love with Legend who hasn't really had an appearance yet. I'm weird... I think I'll write a review for it in the near future. It was nice to loose myself in someone else's story for awhile, and it was nice to have something to look forward to. I think I'm going to do that with every task I have to do now.
I also ordered myself some more books. Like I don't already have 300 on my shelf.
I've started The Screaming Staircase, I already need the rest of the books this series is fabulous.
I also read The Sherwood Ring and reread Cruel Beauty, reviews to come.
On to other life-related things
Rachel Kovaciny who I owe my Five Poisoned Apples win to. Is one of the nicest and most encouraging people I've met in a while. She helped me with my edits, gave me the push I needed to finish and even sent me these lovely postcards to give me inspiration from my story. You're awesome Rachel and I really appreciate all your help.
I've been doing lots of art. I did my first art commission, but I hated it so your not getting a picture.
I started painting my characters. There all going to be collages. I'm doing Chayse, Cynfael, Snow, and the Queen. It's a way to keep me invested in the story that doesn't involve writing.
First time using oil paints so go easy, and it's not even close to done.
I want to start doing character commissions for people, but I don't know if anyone is even interested in that. *shrug*
I've been watching so many shows, The Mentalist, Psych, Last Man Standing.... I could go on. I might do a post on The Mentalist when I finish it, I have emotions to share...
I've been listening to so much moody, indie music. Hello Billie Eilish, Matt Maeson, Kodaline.
Also NF is killing it, and Twenty One Pilots came back!
I started Driver's Ed, I know I'm 23. Driving has always given me huge anxiety, I am hoping to finally get my license for my 24th birthday.
I've been adulting a lot lately guys, be proud.
I've been planning book related things, like querying and sequels. I outlined Fool's Bet, which is something I never do. (My writing is horrible I know)
That's on hold for now, because I've started my second round of revisions on Falling Snow. I'm liking the new bits Anne wanted me to add. It's going to be even better. Anne has been so understanding through this whole process, I'm very protective of my baby. She calms all my fears and answers all my frantic emails. I appreciate her so much! I wouldn't want to work with anyone else.
So for anyone who has read it, there has been a lot of changes and additions. It might surprise you.
I'm a frantic ball of energy right now. With looming deadlines, and a to do list that is way too long.
Congrats on finishing those edits! You got this! ;)

Thanks Danielle! :)
DeleteCongrats on the edits! You can do it, Skye. And working with Anne sounds amazing, to be quite honest.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on drivers' ed, too! It's really not so bad (at least in my experience), although driving does make me anxious too. I know you'll ace it. <3
Thanks Faith! It is, she is so sweet about everything and somehow makes time to help me out. She amazes me!
Delete:D I've done a few of the classes, it's helping my confidence a lot. Thanks!
<3
NF is EPIC. Hey, I don't know if you've heard of Hidden Citizens, but I think you would like them. :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the edits. Adulting is hard, not going to lie. I'm praying for you. <3
He is! I haven't but I'm going to look them up. I always like finding new artists. :D
DeleteThanks, it is. I appreciate it. <3
YESSSS, TØP CAME BACK AND I COULDN'T BE MORE EXCITED!!! *SCREAMS FOREVER*
ReplyDeleteAlso, I coincidentally just got Legendary from the library today! I read Caraval last month and REALLY liked it. So beautiful and magical and I caaaaan't. <3
I'm glad you've made it through a lot of editing! I hope the rest goes well! I can't WAIT to meet your characters. :D
THEY DID!!!!! MY SISTER AND I FREAKED OUT!
DeleteI'm so excited for it! I'm saving it for after my revisions are done. I agree!!! <3
Yes, it was nice to finish it. It's pretty good so far. Eeeep I'm glad you want to! :D
YAAAY for finishing edits!! *throws confetti!*
ReplyDeleteAnd you've been watching Psych?! I love that show so much!! Crossing my fingers that they'll make another Psych movie. (I've heard that James Roday wants to.)
Although, right now, I've been bingeing a different show, (I finished all the Psych seasons, and re-watched at least half of them XD) called Bones. It's a murder/detectivey show starring a forensic anthropologist/novelist nicknamed "Bones" because skeletons and bones are her specialty. It's darker than Psych is, but I still enjoy watching. :)
Thanks Kara!!!
DeleteYes, it's one of my favorites. I hope so! I miss those guys, it would be amazing if they did.
Oh I like Bones, I think I binge watched about 6 of the seasons, I still have a lot left to go. I really like it!
Congratulations on your edits! I can't wait to read your story! And your art is really good! =D
ReplyDeleteThanks Micaiah!
DeleteI hope you enjoy it! Thank you so much!
:D
Those post cards are so cool!!
ReplyDeleteI can’t wait to hear your thoughts on those books. I’m in the market for a new read.
I’m still in love with this painting, and I think you could totally get peoples interest in commissions.
Good luck on getting your license! I know you can do it.
*GASP* I forgot about the Mentalist. How could I FORGET about the mentalist???
Aren't they, I love them so much!
DeleteCruel Beauty is amazing! Will be reviewing soon.
I'm so glad you like it! Thanks, would be pretty cool.
I think I might this time.
How could you, it's fantastic!
:D
Gah! Yes!
DeleteYay!!
You have such a good art style, I think people would gravitate toward.
You go, girl!
I knooow. But, in my defense, I have watched sooo many other tv shows since that one.
:D
DeleteYou should read it, you'll love Igifex. Or whatever his name is.
Thanks! It's something I really love doing.
True, basically what happens every time I watch something new.
SKYYYYYE!!!! *glomples* I've missed you and your posts!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS ON FINISHING YOUR FIRST BATCH OF EDITS!!!! I'm so proud of you and absolutely cannot waaaait to read the final copy IN PRINT. *squeals at the thought* You're going to rock it. I can only imagine how challenging all this is, but you've got this, girl! Praying for you!
Also, your art is so gorgeous. I just start drooling every time I see it. <333
CHRISTINE!!! <3333 I've missed your comments! You always make me smile!
DeleteTHANKS!!!!! Eeeep! Me either, it's going to be so weird! I just hope you like all the changes and additions!
Thank you so much! It is, I need all the prayers I get! <33
That means so much! I get so nervous about sharing it. *HUGS*
<33
Congrats on the edits! <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteAnd your art is so lovely!!!!
Thanks Gray!!!
Delete<3333
AH, The Screaming Staircase!! It's SO GOOD, right? I'm not very good at finishing series, but this is one I need to. There were so many quotes that just cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteYes! I just finished it!!! It IS, so entertaining and creepy!
DeleteMe either, but I really want to with this one. I love the characters.
OMG, I'm doing edits and drivers ed right now too! We're work twins. Haha I'm not sure how to comment on Blogspot (I'm a wordpress gal) but I'm Vivian and you can find me at vivianparkinderosa.com! :) Good luck on your book.
ReplyDeleteReally, what are the chances. We are.
DeleteNo problem, I'll have to check your blog out.
Thanks, you too!
Congrats on finishing the edits! Even with the changes, I'm sure they make the story better. That is really hard though, trusting people with your story and making huge changes like that too them.
ReplyDeleteALKDHFA;SDKJ! The Mentalist!! Um, yes do a post! Please! My friend and I have slowly been making our way through the series (we're on season 3). She loves it which makes me happy. I want her to watch Leverage with me as well, and I've been loving Criminal Minds.
I'm going to have to check out that music you mentioned. I've recently been listening to Lost Boy by Ruth B., Husteler by Zayde Wolf, jazzy old stuff by Stacey Kent, and Henry Mancini's soundtracks.
Don't feel bad about driving later than anyone else. I started driving late too for the same reasons. Honestly, it still gives me anxiety sometimes. But I think that's ok, as long as we don't let anxiety keep us down and from growing and doing what we want with our lives. :/ Although sometimes, I do need to be like, "Ok, but not today. I'll do it tomorrow." Meh.But really. You can do it. You got this!
Very unrelated, but I recently started Vicious by V. E. Schwab and have fallen in love. I love the characters, the story, and her writing style! The way she writes is how I've always wanted to write! So it's amazing to see someone actually pulling it off and realizing that I'm not actually crazy, other people are doing it too. XD But if you haven't read it, I think you'd probably like it. :) So yeah.
Good luck with the editing! And the art! Do you mean character commissions as in your characters? Other writers' characters? Or characters in general (like tv series or published books)? Because I do kinda want one. Maybe something Sherlock related. I don't know. I should email you about it.
I'm actually doing a book editing class (maybe I told you this?) which turned into a first drafting class because my professor was like "You could add like 30,000 more words to the ending becasue there's so much potential to this story that you're not taking advantage of"? Sooo 1) I totally missed that, whoops, 2) I was really surprised that I missed that, 3) I feel like I don't know what I'm doing, and 4) I never ever thought I'd let anyone read my first draft material, especially a professor, but it's happening, and I haven't died yet? Other than work and trying to not spend all my money on books and coffee, that has been my adulting for the month. :/
PS-- sorry for the book-length comment...
DeleteThanks! I think they will. It is, I've been freaking out about them all month.
DeleteYESSS! I will, Red John was revealed and dealt with and I have so many thoughts on it. I don't know how anyone could not love it. I love Leverage and of course Criminal Minds.
You should. Ruth B is good! I think Hustler is my new song for Cynfael XD
Oh nice.
I've been feeling better about it, especially since there were a few people my age in the class. Anxiety sucks, I think I'm making progress with it. Thanks, this time I actually believe it.
I've been meaning to read some of her books, *adds that to my list* I love when you find an author like that. I will definitely read one of hers. Yeah, it's reassuring isn't it.
Thanks! Yes, lots of art. Other writers characters, whatever anyone wanted within reason. Really, I would love to! You should.
Sounds like fun. Must be a great professor. That's awesome! He sees the potential, it's so nice when people validate your writing! I love it when that happens. Basically what I've been trying to do, but coffee makes my world go round. Seems like your doing pretty good.
NEVER apologize! I love long comments, who doesn't!
:D
Goodness, you've been busy! My hubby didn't get his driver's license until he was about 20 -- he just didn't need it before then. So you're not alone there. But good for you for doing it even though it scares you!
ReplyDeleteYou're most welcome :-) I'm glad to hear the next round of edits are going well!!!
Yes, it's been a crazy month. That's comforting, I didn't really either. I always seemed to have rides. :D
DeleteIt's been really rewarding.
:D They are, only have a couple chapters left.
Yay for being close to done! I'm 4 chapters from being done with the current bit of editing I'm working on, and it's such a relief to know the end is in sight.
DeleteAlso, I've nominated you for a Liebster Award. :-)
Yes, that's awesome. That's the best feeling!
DeleteThanks!
Congrats and good luck on Drivers ed!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my TTT and please vote in my Make Me Read It Readathon poll
Thanks Lauren!
DeleteSure thing, :D
That art is awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm really glad I'm not the only one who struggles with driving. I mean, I get so shaky and panicky, even when it's just a simple town run (don't get me started on stop lights). But you've got this! Just remember to breathe and you'll be all good!
And Psych is such a great show!! I love it so much!
Sounds like you had a full month! I hope August is amazing for you!
Thank you so much!!
DeleteThat makes me feel better about it too. The more I do it the less panicky I am. I'll try. :D
It is! I'm going to be sad when we finish it.
It was a pretty good one. Thanks, you too!
CONGRATULATIONS ON FINISHING YOUR FIRST ROUND OF EDITS!!! And YES, losing yourself in a good book is the BEST after a big, stressful accomplishment! I've seen Lockwood & Co around my library; it sounds really good! I'll have to add it to my never-ending list of books to read, lol
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see that collage when you're done! It already looks so intriguing!
You and me both with driving! I only recently got to a point where I can do it without my hands shaking once I get out of the car. I put off learning for so long because, among other reasons, it's honestly pretty terrifying; but I'm hoping to finally get mine soon too.
Best of luck with your next round of edits!!!

Thanks Alexa!!! It's one of my favorite things to do. Lockwood & Co is awesome if you like British things and ghost stories. I think I'll review it soon.
DeleteThank you, I'm glad you like it!
It's awful isn't it. I'm more confident then I used to be. It is, extremely. Best of luck!
Thanks again they are going pretty good.
The title of this post makes me smile! WOOO! Congrats on starting drivers ed. Don't worry about being 23 and not driving yet. I think I'll be in the same boat as you. 21 and still haven't driven. :P Should maybe get to it?... I don't know. Hope all goes well with your writing projects! <3
ReplyDeleteGood! Thanks, I just finished today. Now it's just a matter of passing the test. That makes me feel a lot better about it. People were giving me a hard time, lots of people don't have it. Thanks! <3
DeleteCongrats on all those edits!! *cheers* Okay, now I NEED to read Screaming Staircase!! :O It's on my shelf, I just haven't gotten to it yet... ILLUSIONARIUM! Love that one. :D (Confession: same age as you and don't really drive yet either. So much scary adulting. XD) Have a lovely week, friend! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! You do! It's so delightfully British and creepy. I just started that one. So excited
DeleteReally, it's nice to know I'm not alone, it is scary. You too! <3
